We are continuing to move forward with Clardy Elementary being a strong foundation for our children to excel in secondary, post-secondary, college and career readiness.

Teachers are continuing to enhance their lesson delivery, communication with parents, and increasing the rigor in their instruction.

 Parents, how can you help?

  1. Read to your children, discuss the meaning or implied message of an advertisement, etc.
  2. Connect what they are learning at school to what you do in real life,  some examples include, baking, fishing, etc. Everything we do daily has a connection to what it is that they are learning at school. By helping us to connect both worlds, the children are able to problem solve, make connections, and articulate what they understand. Check their homework daily, ensure that neatness and organization are present in their work. Communicate with your children’s teachers on a regular basis.
  3. Please emphasize the importance of science. Science is in our everyday life. Science is reading and math.
  4. Have your children read to you , and/or their older brothers and sisters can read to them. Play board games at home, this helps them to practice the language and to follow procedures/rules of the game, plus provides for family time.
  5. Visit the public library with your children. Encourage them to read for our Accelerated Reading Program.
  6. If the children can read, enjoy reading, and comprehend what they read, they are off to a successful start.
  7. Log on to the EPISD Parent Portal and keep track of your children's grades and email your children's teachers via the portal to maintain open lines of communication.

Most importantly, talk with your children. Talking helps them to increase their vocabulary. By acquiring more vocabulary words, they are increasing their understanding, comprehension,  and most importantly,  they are bonding with you, their parents,  as well as  keeping  you in their communication loop.

Thank you again for all you do. We look forward to serving your children again this year. Together, lets work for our children’s future. Congratulations!
