Enrichment Camp this year will be held at Cooley Elementary.
Below is the schedule.
Schedule For Summer School

(UTEP CAMPS ARE HELD AT UTEP. STUDENTS WILL EAT BREAKFAST AND BOARD THE BUS FROM THE EPISD CAMPUS.) Space is extremely limited. Applicants will be placed in a lottery and chosen at random for attendance.

Descriptions:

Student Success Initiative (SSI) 5th Grade Math and Reading:

10:1 Teacher Student ratio.

Reading Students

Breakfast 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Reading Instruction 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Lunch 11:30 – 12:00 p.m.

Math Students

Lunch 12:00 – 12:30 p.m.

Math Instruction 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

 

 

Marilyn Burns Literacy Program – (MB1 and MB2)

Focus on mathematic content through literature books and manipulatives.

1st and 2nd grade students only. Teacher / student ratio is 1:15.

Students will receive a collection of materials and literature books to keep for their home library.

Student Schedule:

Breakfast 7:45 -8:15 a.m.

Instruction 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Lunch 11:30 – 12:00 p.m.

Monday – Friday for one week

 

MB1 A = Marilyn Burns Week 1 Session A. There will be three sections per campus.

If all three fill completely, a four section can be opened with notification to Tori Lindeman.

According to the Texas Administrative Code 89 to be eligible for enrollment in a bilingual education summer program for Pre-Kinder or Pre- First, a child must be Limited English Proficient (LEP) and meet the following criteria:

Pre–Kindergarten – any LEP child whose parents/legal guardians reside within the EPISD boundaries and will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2016 and will be in a bilingual/ESL program in Kindergarten.

Pre–First – any LEP child whose parents/legal guardians reside within the EPISD boundaries and will be six (6) years old on or before September 1, 2016 and will be in a bilingual/ESL program in Grade 1.

Students will attend Monday – Friday; June 13 – July 29th

Breakfast                                           7:30 – 8:00 a.m.

Pre-K / Pre First Programming:      8:00 – 12:00 p.m.

Lunch                                                12:00 – 12:30 p.m.

Buses                                                 12:30

Extended School Year: ESY

Special Need Students based on ARD/IEP.  

The ESY Programming will be all 6 weeks, but will attend Monday – Thursday ONLY.

 

 

 

 

Summer Reading Challenge

Grades 1-5th

All 6 weeks of summer school

Tuesday & Thursday; In the library.

Breakfast                   7:30 – 8:30 a.m.

Library Time                        8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Lunch                        11:30 -12:30 p.m.

 

Students will be able to listen to stories and presentations from area personalities and EPISD staff. Librarians will be on site to assist with appropriate book selections, and offer mini-lessons. The reading challenge will provide books, materials and rewards for students to encourage their summer reading! (more details and schedules to come)

Eco-Systems           3-5th Graders

Monday – Friday:   2 Weeks Monday July 18- Friday July 29, 2016.

Breakfast     7:30 – 8:30 a.m.

Session 1 & 2:   8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Lunch            11:30 – 12:30 p.m.

15 students per section (2 sections/campus)

 

The student is expected to investigate and compare how animals and plants undergo a series of orderly changes in their diverse life cycles, such as tomato plants, frogs, and lady bugs.

Technology, science, hands-on, & math while investigating ecosystems & life cycles using materials such as IPADS, Picture books (songs & poems) all while using the STEMScopes (Accelerate Learning) program.

  • Campuses iPads and computer labs need to be available for this camp.

Monday – Friday:   2 Weeks Monday July 11- Friday July 22, 2016.

Session 1 & 2:   8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Enrichment Camp – EPISD developed curriculum Language Arts and Social Studies focus.

Live Materials Center Animal Adventure (LMC):

3rd Grade only. 

Monday – Friday:   1 Week Monday- Friday (15 children per session)

The day of the field trip to the Zoo will be all day 8:30- 3:30 – joining the two session into one group for the trip.

 

Breakfast       7:30 – 8:30 a.m.

Session 1:    8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Lunch            11:30 – 12:30 p.m

Session 2:    12:30- 3:30 p.m.

 

Students will visit the live materials center and the El Paso Zoo. Students will participate in hands on exploration of plants & animals.
